Cíl

The course extends subjects of basic ecological course to special topics from reproduction ecology, metapopulation dynamics, problems of small populations and conservation biology. It refers to interpreting difficulties in current animal reproduction, behavioral ecology etc. and proposes fundamentals to understanding of modern conservation biology and nature conservation. Practice is focused on examples of collecting and handling data with a use of basic statistical approaches.

Znalosti:Students know examples from reproductive ecology, population dynamics, inter and intraspecies relations in selected groups of vertebrates and invertebrates, which are important for species protection principles understanding. They have a general awareness about the evolutional and genetic adaptation aspects, life histories and reproductive mechanisms of animals. Moreover they are able to justify the importance of these informations in protectionist biology.Dovednosti:Students can describe complicated ecological relations, rules and processes on particular examples and deduct a generalized conclusions from them, which are important for the species protection. They are able to present a biological-ecological problem in a short presentation and discuss possible ways of it's solutions, crags of these solutions and also applications in the nature conservation.Kompetence - komunikace:Student respects and manage the rules of communication in scientific team. He is able to analyze in detail a given problem with the methodological crags, formulate and defend his own opinion in this team. He is able to critically discuss given topic and formulate a variant solutions.Kompetence - úsudek:Student is conscious of the width of the conservation biology issue and many interpretive limitations of ecological methods and approaches. He is able to develop an opinion acquired from the specialized literature and propose variant solution which broadens the actual level of knowledge.
