The person who I admire is a world-known writer Agatha Christie. I go very often to the library. The first book from her I chose more or less by a chance, in short I liked her cover, her title page. But that book captivated me so much, that I went to the library again and borrowed further book from Agatha. She didn´t stop to surprise me with her novels. I have read about twenty her novels and if I had more time, I would read furthers.

Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie Mallowan was born 15th september 1890 in Ashfield, in the Southern England. When she was a child, she read many stories of detection and she even made up her own stories. In 1913 Agatha met a young officer Archibald Christie and soon they married. But for the majority of the first world war they were separated. Agatha stayed in Ashfield and worked as a voluntary nurse and a druggist in the local hospitals. She acquired there the knowledge about the poisons. She took advantage of them later in her work.

In 1920 was published her first novel, in which appeared an eccentric Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. But she became famous not until in 1926, when was published her novel A murder of Roger Ackroyd. Agatha Christie got a divorce and she married an archaeologist.

In the beginning of the fifties reached the summit the second carrer of Agatha Christie, namely as the author of the dramatic pieces. In 1971 the Queen Elizabeth II. awarded her a titul „Lady of British Empire“.

Then her health condition began to get worse. Agatha Christie died in her house 12th Januar 1976.

But her work lives further on. Since 1920 more then a milliard copies of her books have been published and they were translated into more languages then Shakespeare.

The most well-known persons from the novels of Agatha Christie are Hercule Poirot and Jane Marpl.

Hercule Poirot is an older man, always well dressing and elegant Belgian, whose motto is order and method. As regards the investigation, he refused the concrete proofs as footprints or ash from cigarette. He declared, that these things can´t help to detective to solve a mystery. He always affirmed that a detective must use his brain, his small grey cerebral cells.

Hercule Poirot has become very popular and even if Agatha Christie thought that she had already written enough books with him and she didn´t want to write further on about him, she had to write new and new novels with this legendary Belgium, because she was under big pressure from the side off readres and publishers. In short Hercule Poirit was very in demand.

Jane Marpl is about 65 year old old woman. She came from the typical English market-town. St Mary Mead. Her hobbies are the tales or scandals, knitting and even though she looked very peacefully, she always sought in every man his bad aspects. She was very attentive and her attention always belonged to the petty details, owing to them she always got at the bottom of any mowing to them she always got at the bottom of any mystery.
