He knows structure of nucleic acids and understands to the biochemical principle of genetic code. He is able to characterise cells of prokaryotes and eukaryotes in the view of primary dogma of molecular genetics. He has a good knowledge about organisation of cellular genome and genome of non-cellular particles (virusoids, viroids and viruses). He can describe the structure of non-coding regions of eukaryotic genome including the transposable elements. He is able in detail characterise mechanism and enzymatic apparatus of DNA replication and mechanisms of its regulation. He can characterise replication errors and its connections to point mutations. Student knows in detail processes of transcription and translation. He can characterise gene expression regulation at levels of transcription, translation and posttranscriptional and posttranslational modifications. He has overview of connections between molecular biology and evolutionary biology.
