The occurence, motion, circulation and features of ground water are the main topics of this course. Hydrogeology is the subject strongly related to hydrology, hydraulics, hydropedology and geology. The lectures and seminars are oriented to explanation of the basic hydrogeological terminology, basic procesess related to hydrogeologic part of hydrologic cycle of water in the nature. The attention is also payed into the ground water protection as a protection of the natural resources. Theoretical part of the course is combined with practical traing in seminars and field excursions at the end of course.

Znalosti:The student has got advanced knowledge of fundamental principles of hydrogeology as interdisciplinary science. She/he knows rock and water relationship, rock as a porous system, flow and flow rate in saturated zone, hydraulic conductivity, permeability, transmissivity and other hydrogeological parameters. She/he is able to understand and explain the physical and transport processes in saturated zone, steady and unsteady flow into the wells. She/he largely understands the hydrogeological characteristics of different rocks, main group of the rock and their relation to the groundwater flow and storage. She/he understands the groundwater flow in karstic areas, cavities and lava tubes. The student is trained in understanding of the function of different hydrogeological structures, hydrogeochemical features of ground water, mineral waters, principals of HG mapping and basic rules of sufficient water protection.Dovednosti:The student is able to apply the fundamental principles and methods of hydro geology, understands the hydrogeologic maps amd mapping, knows the hygrogeological characteristics of the rock, understands the methods of hydrogeologic survay, drilling the wells and their use for practical purposes. She/he knows how to evaluate the pumping tests, how to use Theis and Jacob´s solution, well logging, pumping tests. The student is capable to work with basic mathematic description of hydrogeological processes (Darcy´s law, Bernoulli equation, continuity equation, ...). She/he is able to solve transport processes in aquifers in relation with other disciplines related to water resources. She/he is able to carry out independently the problems of rock and water relationship including an aplication of advanced methods being applied in hydrogeology.Kompetence - komunikace:She/he is able to work independently alone or as a member of team; both under leadership or as a leader of working team. She/he is able to communicate with sufficient knowledge of technical terminology of the subject. She/he is also ready to organize the work of subordinates, work with ordinary workers at different level of responsibility and effectively guide, evaluate, coordinate activities.Kompetence - úsudek:The student is able to work creatively and progressively. She/he is able to assess, evaluate and apply information resources (literature, documents, databases, web sites, etc.). In arriving at correct solutions, she/he also uses her/his own experience and in combination with experience of experts. She/he is able to evaluate critically the obtained results of analytical, field, and lab work.
