This subject is actually combination of two subjects, first part of semester of geology and second part hydrogeology. Instruction starts with geology. Geology is focused on an overview of plate tectonics, volcanism, mountain building, origin of minerals and rocks, weathering, erosion, formation of soil, water and energy resources. The knowledge of basic geological principles is essential for many other fields such as pedology, hydrology, geochemistry and environmental sciences. Besides theoretical knowledge, students will learn how to identify basic rocks and rock-forming minerals. Hydrogeology is the subject strongly related to hydrology, hydraulics, hydropedology and geology. The lectures and seminars are oriented to explanation of the fundamental hydrogeological terminology, basic procesess related to hydrogeologic part of hydrologic cycle of water in the nature.

Získané způsobilosti

Znalosti:Students are able to define basic geological and hydrogeological tasks and solutions. They can know the essentials part of plate tectonics, volcanism, mountain building, mineralogy, formation of soil, water and energy resources. A part of hydrogeology lectures give them opportunity to understand the basic hydrogeological processes and their relationship to other hydro-sciences, like hydrology, hydropedology, hydraulics of groundwater. The students know basic principles of groundwater movement within the rock and soil, different sources of groundwater contamination and know basic principles of groundwater protection. The students are able to explain methodology of the systematic evaluation of groundwater vulnerability.Dovednosti:The student is able to understand the fundamental principles and methods of geology and hydro geology, understands the maps, knows the geological and hygrogeological characteristics of the rock, and understands the methods of hydrogeologic survey. The student is capable to work with basic mathematic description of geological and hydrogeological processes. S/he is able to understand transport processes in aquifers in relation with other disciplines related to water resources. The students are able to synthesise and evaluate potential risks related to groundwater, based on different sources of information for given locality.Kompetence - komunikace:Students are able to work individually and also as a part of the team. The students are also able to lead small project groups, efficiently distribute the tasks and control their performance. The students are able to formulate, discuss and present results of a given topic in a form of a technical report, project report or power point presentation.Kompetence - úsudek:Students are able to search, evaluate and synthesise diverse information sources such as scientific literature, databases, published documents and on-line sources. The students are able to distinguish the trustworthy documents within the huge amount of on-line published works. The students are open to critics and ideas of the specialists and are able to use it in their future work.
