Cíl

The students receive basic information about establishment and cultivation of intensive and extensive lawns for different purposes. The materials and basic principles of technical equipment for lawn establishment and treatment are presented. Part of the course consists of seminars with practical demonstrations. The other is dedicated to a practical training in typical turf and lawns.

Znalosti:Students have basic knowledge of the importancy of lawns in the living environment and the countryside. They have basic information about establishing and cultivation of intensive lawns (decorative and sport) and extensive countryside lawns. They know and are able to describe and recognize grass species and varieties used for amenity purposes, their seed, material for soil profile construction, they can arrange grass mixtures for swards of different use. They can describe comprehensively and give reasons for establishing and cultivation ways of lawns, they understand the principles and functions of used machinery. They appreciate the relations of the environment, anthropogenic wear and sward development.Dovednosti:The students can determinate the basic amenity grass species in swards in different stages of their development, so as their seeds, they can evaluate swards state and arrange proper growing measures. They are able to arrange seed mixtures for determined conditions. They can apply and use their knowledge of biological properties and requirements of the basic grass species for their cultivation, discuss suitability of cultivation treatments. They are oriented in machines, fertilizers, materials and preparations used in turfgrass management, they understand and can explain their functions.Kompetence - komunikace:Students are able to actuate as a subordinates or as in team collaboration. They are able to communicate in English using professional terminology of the mentioned subject. They can formulate and discuss their own professional opinion, give information understandably, concretize problems and propose solutions.Kompetence - úsudek:The students are able to approach to their work with high level of creativity and enthusiasm. They use relevant information sources (professional literature, their own experience, information of other specialists etc.) to create their opinion and are responsible for evaluation and improvment of work. They are able to control and supervise work under routine situations.
