Cíl

In this course students will be informed about basic knowledge concerning cell biology. This is essential information for a student of the masteries study programme of the University of Agriculture for the study of biotechnologies. The objective of the subject is the study of cell structure, functions of the individual cell organelles and vital expressions of a cell starting from communication of the cell with its surroundings and with other cells through cell metabolism and cell division up to cell death.

Znalosti:He has an advanced knowledge in the area of cellular biology. He is capable of defining the structure and function of cellular membranes including the type and functions of membrane proteins. He knows the functions of a membrane during the transport of substances. He also knows how to characterize the structure and function of individual cellular organelles such as the nucleus, endoplasmatic reticulum, ribosomes, the Golgi apparatus and the mitochondria, and to prevent the joining of cellular organelles into cellular processes. He also has knowledge of the structure and function of the cytoskeleton and its significance in cell physiology. He can describe the process and regulation of protheosynthesis, of the cellular cycle, and knows how to prevent differences between meiosis and mitosis the same as the specificity of spermatogenesis and oogenesis. He is able to describe the basic signal cascades and their regulation including cellular messengers and their significance for cellular signalizing. From the cellular point of view he knows how to define the origin, structure, and function of individual tissues including the types of cellular connectors.Dovednosti:Hi is capable of explaining the differences among different microscope techniques and knows the principles of electron microscopy, light microscopy, also the fluorescent and confocal, principles of preparation of section. He can independently prepare (compounds) for observation of individual cellular organelles in fluorescent microscope. In model cells-mammal oocytes and sperm - he is able to judge the stage of meiotic maturation. He can also visualize the chromatine by/with two different types of staining. He knows the staining of an/the acrosome and the vital staining of sperm, besides the methodology of preparation of samples for detection of proteins and is able to defect proteins by the Western blot method. He is capable of independently evaluating, critically estimating, and of compiling a protocol of the course of an experiment.Kompetence - komunikace:As a graduate in the field of cellular biology, he can work both under supervision and as part of a team. He is able to act within the framework of his professional knowledge and skills in English and Czech with the use of the professional terminology of cellular biology. He is capable of communicating his own professional views to experts and a wider public understandable and convincingly.Kompetence - úsudek:He approaches his work creatively and with initiative and is able to identify and apply information sources (documents, professional literature, databases, etc.), and also to classify and evaluate the results and conclusions of professional and scientific research v coherent form in the area of cellular biology and related subjects. He is capable of planning, supporting, and directing the activity of remaining team members.
