Získané způsobilosti

Znalosti:Graduates have knowledge of biology and taxonomy of main commercially planted forest tree species. Graduates gain knowledge of forest genetics and forest tree breeding. They become acknowledged with general basics of forest genetics, population genetics; variability of forest tree species; provenance research; genetic principals of forest trees reproduction; reproductive plantings of forest tree species (with the preference of the seed orchards); utilization of gene markers; genetic testing of forest tree species; conservation and reproduction of gene resources of the forest tree species; genetic and breeding aspects of exotic species introduction; utilization of vegetative propagation in forest tree breeding; in vitro tissue cultures; cell and gene engineering; biotechnology; breeding strategies and programs. They have learned that seed orchards are nowadays the main tool of forest tree breeding in forestry practice. In this subject they learn how to determine forest tree species open land tree species according to basic morphological traits.Dovednosti:Graduates orient themselves in ecological demands, variability and growth characteristics of a wide span of European tree species and selected tree species from other continents. They can apply their skills within construction of breeding strategies and programs, establishment and utilization of seed orchards of first and advanced generations. They can apply various methods of forest tree breeding. Above all they are able to integrate these various methods to forest management (regeneration, thinning) practice according to current local management plans. They are skilled to handle forest reproductive material in conformity with the law and valid legislations leading to best possible forest regeneration. They are prepared to establish and evaluate various types of breeding plantations - provenance trials, progeny tests, clonal tests and so on.Kompetence - komunikace:They communicate well with their colleagues and peers in professional questions of forest genetics practical applications - forest tree breeding. They can direct and control the working process of a breeding cycle. They can join theoretical and practical skills when handling the breeding material. They are able to communicate properly with both experts and lay public.Kompetence - úsudek:Graduates have the ability of making the right conclusion about production potential of newly established forest stands on a basis of their gained theoretical knowledge and practical experience. They choose the right procedures for utilization of obtained information and outcomes of forest tree breeding.
