Získané způsobilosti

Znalosti:Graduates will get the basic knowledge concerning the structure and function of forest ecosystems as predisposition for management. There will be presented the distribution, characteristics as well as the anthropogenic effects of the basic biomes, especially the forest ones. The lectures continue with the problems of the structure and function of the forest ecosystems and its ecological and environmental functions. It is studied dynamics of natural forests as the basics for their silviculture, i.e. the forest development since the last glaciation and the dynamics of the climax forests. It is discussed the relation of the forest ecosystem and abiotic factors: radiation and its transformation, forest and the hydric cycle, mutual effects of forest and wind, and finally forest and the soil compartment. Special attention is paid to the humus forms. Further it is studied the biological production in the forest ecosystems, primary as well as secondary and the effects of human influences. Cycles are presented of the main nutrients and the forestry treatments influencing them: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur. Finally, the main global ecological problems are dealt: air pollution, ozone, greenhouse effects.Dovednosti:The graduates are able to recognize main ecological problems connected with the forestry - consider the degree of the forest naturalness, recognize spontaneous forest dynamics, decide their management. They can consider the level of non-production forest function and co-determine the development of species, age and spatial structure of forest stands, respecting the function demands of the society. They are able to evaluate the production potential of forest stands and the effects on the ecosystem compartments, as well as to evaluate the effects of forestry treatments on the nutrient cycling.Kompetence - komunikace:The graduates are able to argue for different approaches to the management of forest stands from the point of view of their space, species and age structure and to determine the impacts of forestry treatments on the production and non-production forest functions. They are competent to emphasize the importance of forestry and forest management for solution of economic, environmental and basic societal problems.Kompetence - úsudek:The graduates will get ability to consider state of the forest ecosystems from the viewpoint of their naturalness, expected dynamics as well as their potential to fulfill desired production and non-production functions. They are able to formulate probable impact of forestry treatments and the importance of forestry for the solution of the ecological problems of biosphere.
