Znalosti:The graduates will get detailed information concerning tropical and subtropical (TS) biomes, especially of the forest type, this matter will be enlarged by the basic survey of TS ecological conditions, as well as the survey of socio - economical situation in the relevant countries. Then the organization of tree improvement programs, nursery organization and industry, seed science will be explained, with emphasis to experience in tropical and subtropical countries. Examples will be given from successful cases in tropical regions, where the Czech experts were active. Main tropical and subtropical tree species are introduced, in detail their ecology, dendrology and silvics. Tropicalisation of Czech forest technologies, examples of it are given. Inventory of forest resources is another important issue as well as the forest protection. Finally - good practices and projects in the tropics and subtropics are given to the students as well as the introduction in the global ecological problems connected with forestry.Dovednosti:The graduates are able to recognize main problems of forestry in tropical and subtropical regions - consider the ecological and socio-economic conditions, state of forests and management options. They are able make decisions in the forestry and socio-economical part of the projects. They can decide the tree species use in proper way, formulate tree breeding projects, establish the forest nursery and management the forest plantations throughout the rotation period.Kompetence - komunikace:The graduates are able to argue for different approaches to the management of forest stands from the point of view of their space, species and age structure and to determine the impacts of forestry treatments on the production and non-production forest functions. They are competent to emphasize the importance of forestry and forest management for solution of economic, environmental and basic societal problems.Kompetence - úsudek:The graduates will get the competency for decision on the forest status and potential for commercial use. They will be able to formulate projects concerning tree species and clones selection, forest nursery establishing, selection of the plantation programme and create the management and commercial plans.
