Cíl

The aim of this course is to enhance knowledge of students in domestic animal nutrition and feeding in tropical and subtropical conditions. This course is focused on ruminants - cattle, buffalo, camel, sheep and goats. Special attention is given to metabolism of nutrients, characteristics and utilization of tropical feeds, forage conservation, nutrient requirements for various categories of farm animals and their feeding ecology, and also optimization of feed rations for ruminants.

Znalosti:Students enhanced their knowledge in the field of nutrition and feeding of ruminants in tropics and subtropics. They know modern methods of feed testing evaluation for ruminants, of digestibility determination, utilization of tropical grasses, legumes and pastures. They can calculate and use feed premixes and feed additives for ruminants and prepare feed rations based on tropical feeds. They are familiar with nutrients requirements and feeding of cattle, sheep, goats, buffaloes and camels in practice.Dovednosti:Course graduates know how to calculate feed rations for ruminants based on chemical composition of feedstuffs and nutriet requirements of all categories of domestic ruminants and they can use the computer software for optimization of compound feeds from tropical and subtropical sources. They are able to pass their knowledge in the field of animal nutrition to farmers, also to take the advantage of their knowledge in management and research.Kompetence - komunikace:Course graduate are able to work under leadership as well as to engage in team cooperation, they can discuss the problem and make decisions by preparation of improved feed rations for domestic ruminants. They are able to communicate in English language while using expert terminology in animal nutrition. They have ability to formulate and present their own opinions, to pass on information or ideas, specify problem and possible solutions.Kompetence - úsudek:Course graduates are able to approach his work creatively and actively. They are able to utilize important reference sources (scientific literature, databases, experiences of their own and others). They are able to organize and supervise work of inferior workers. Course graduates are able to take responsibility for their decisions in animal feeding and management of working group.
