Cíl

The aim of subject is preparing of students for their scientific work in tropical and subtropical countries during their participation on Czech development cooperation in TS. Overview of basic informations about infectious agents and human diseases (bacterial, viral and parasitic) in tropics and subtropics are given with specific impact on zoonoses in different gografical conditions of the world. Practical skills in collecting and transportation of samples, laboratory preparation of samples, microscopic diagnostic skills focused on parasites are training and rules of prevention of these diseases are set up as well as.

Znalosti:Graduates gain basic information about infection diseases (viral, bacterial and parazitic) in tropics and subtropics with a specific focus on zoonoses. Students can describe the occurrence, transmission, clinical symptoms and preventive measures of some diseases. Students acquire practical skills in sampling, transportation and manipulation with the samples in specialized laboratories. Furthermore, they are able to determine the agent of parasitic diseases using the microscope. In cooperation with Centre of travel medicine, students are familiarized with basic prevention principles and with prophylaxis prior to travelling to the countries in tropics and subtropics. They are also introduced to the possibilities of therapy an treatment in case of falling ill.Dovednosti:Graduates are able to apply their knowledge while solving the health problems (food-borne and water-borne diseases), they are able to evaluate the situation of biohazadrs and posible transmission of infection diseases from animals to humans- zoonoses. They know basics of the first aid and are able to apply this knowledge practically. They can hand down this knowledge to the local communities or to the team members of the project "Czech foreign development cooperation", in the field conditions of tropics and subtropics. Practical skills in collecting and transportation of samples, laboratory preparation of samples, microscopic diagnostic skills focused on parasites are training and rules of prevention of these diseases are set up as well as.Kompetence - komunikace:Graduates are able to help by providing the preventative activities in cooperation with local community in appropriate geographical locality. They are able to formulate the conclusions related to solving the particular problems and to give relevant information to the medical service.Kompetence - úsudek:Graduates are able to evaluate the origin, progress and prognosis of diseases. In cooperation with medical center and local authorities graduates, they can provide the preventive precaution during conflicts or catastrophes (foreign mission, charitable action..).
