Cíl

The aim of this subject is to teach students the basics of nutrition and feeding of wild, ranched or captive animals in tropical and subtropical conditions, also in zoological gardens of Europe. Special attention is given to metabolism of nutrients, characteristics and utilization of tropical feeds, forage conservation, nutrient requirements, feeding ecology of exotic animals and feed rations for ruminants, non-ruminant herbivores, omnivores and also carnivores and birds.

Znalosti:Students have basic knowledge about anatomy and physiology of digestive tract of wild ruminants, herbivores, carnivores and birds. They have information about wild animals nutrition in tropical and subtropical areas. Students can determine the digestibility of tropical and subtropical feeds and they know how to feed wild animals in captivity (zoological gardens and farms).Dovednosti:Students can analyze the quality of the wild animals environmental conditions with the knowledge of nutritive value of natural pastures and feeds in tropical and subtropical regions. They are able to recommend feed rations for wild animals bred in captivity or improved feeding of animals in national parks.Kompetence - komunikace:Course graduate are able to work under leadership as well as to engage in team cooperation, they can discuss the problem and make decisions by preparation of improved feed rations for exotic animals in zoological gardens or in tropical farm. They are able to communicate in English language while using expert terminology in animal nutrition. They have ability to formulate and present their own opinions, to pass on information or ideas, specify problem and possible solutions.Kompetence - úsudek:Course graduates are able to approach his work creatively and actively. They are able to utilize important reference sources (scientific literature, databases, experiences of their own and others). They are able to organize and supervise work of inferior workers. Course graduates are able to take responsibility for their decisions in animal feeding and management of working group.
