Cíl

Cílem předmětu je vybavit posluchače potřebnými vědomostmi o dvou základních skupinách polních plodin, tj. o obilovinách a luskovinách. Předmět je zaměřen na ekologii, efektivní hospodaření a zlepšování obilovin a luskovin v tropických a subtropických oblastech. U jednotlivých plodin jsou vysvětlovány růstové a vývojové fáze, výživa a vhodné pěstitelské podmínky. Pozornost je věnována moderním technologiím pěstování a možnosti zintenzivňování produkce v tropech a subtropech.

Získané způsobilosti

Znalosti:Students gain the knowledge which plants belong among the most important useful cereals and pulses; they are familiar with the cultivation of those plants in the specific conditions of tropical zone with special features related to traditional knowledge and the latest findings in the field. Students have awareness of the importance and indispensability of those plants for human nutrition, animal feeding and industry, and for crop rotation. They know the characteristics, requirements, management and traditional and improved technologies of their cultivation. The students know the commonly used ways of preservation of genetic material of those plants and ways of processing of harvested parts into the food, feed and industrial products.Dovednosti:Students are able to orientate in the field of tropical cereals and pulses, current research and findings, they know how to work with the scientific literature and how to search the most important scientific databases in order to find information about cereals and pulses. They are able to classify particular plant into genus and in the most cases into species according to the seeds and/or habitus of the plant. They are able to include the plants properly into the suitable crop rotation system and they can carry out the seed quality check. Students are able to apply their knowledge in solving research project focused on these crops taking into account their environmental requirements, nutrition and management. Kompetence - komunikace:Students are able to work both under the leadership and the teamwork. They can communicate in English using the specific terminology. They can formulate and present their own views from the field and clearly communicate information, ideas, specify the problems, and possible solutions. Students are able to defend their project in front of the auditorium.Kompetence - úsudek:Students can critically evaluate the problems related to production of cereals and pulses, define them and suggest their solution creatively and with motivation. For the formation of their opinion they use all relevant information (literature, personal experience, experiences of experts).
