Cíl

The course is devoted to familiarize students with important tropical and subtropical tree and shrub species, their uses, ecology, and cultivation techniques. Students will have the opportunity to study theory and practice of predetermination techniques a procedure to know the tropical plants in the field, by means of simple, fresh characteristics of non reproductive organs (leaves, twigs, bark, odors, tastes, exudations, buttresses, etc). The course takes account of interdisciplinary approach and relationships with allied branches like taxonomic botany, forestry, biodiversity, ecology, agroforestry and ethnobotany.

Znalosti:Graduates of the course have access to the basic anatomical-morphological characteristics of tropical woody plants. They know the appropriate taxonomy and taxonomic units and have sufficient background in botanical nomenclature. They know the most important characters of major families. They know main economically important species. They know the principles of botanical nomenclature and its latest developments.Dovednosti:The student know how to use the acquired expertise in orientation in the system of tropical woody plant families. They are familiar with taxonomic classification of principal, and most widely distributed species. They know the methodological procedures for the collection, processing and cataloging herbarium specimens. They are able to work with the taxonomic literature and databases. They have a background on ecological and economic importance of selected species.Kompetence - komunikace:The graduate is able to work under the leadership and also as a member of the team. He is able to connect the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field. He is able to communicate in English, using technical terminology of the subject. He is prepared to formulate and present their own views, clearly communicate information, ideas, specify the problems and possible solutions.Kompetence - úsudek:The graduate is able to work creatively with active approach. He knows how to find and use relevant information sources (literature, taxonomic databases). During the formation of discretion he uses own experience and experiences of other professionals. He is ready to organize and effectively control the work of his subordinates. He is fully accountable for his decisions and activities of the working team he manage.
