Cíl

Předmět má vybavit studenty magisterského studijního oboru "International Development Economics" základními znalostmi o oblasti Latinské Ameriky a Karibiku, které jsou v současné době nazývané rozvojovými ekonomikami. Zaměřuje se na hlavní přírodní, kulturní, politické a socio-ekonomické aspekty výše uvedené oblasti (tři pod-regiony rozvojového světa). Předmět prohlubuje a kompletuje znalosti studentů, které tito získali studiem jiných (příbuzných) předmětů, například: Geografie světového zemědělství, Ekonomika zemědělství a přírodních zdrojů, Rozvojová ekonomika, apod. Hlavním cílem předmětu je seznámení studentů se zvláštnostmi teritoria Latinské Ameriky a Karibiku. Přednášky se týkají analýzy místních a regionálních zvláštností s ohladem na poradenskou činnost a realizaci rozvojových projektů. Byly navrženy takto: Úvod do Transitivních ekonomik; Historický vývoj a jeho vliv na kulturní zvyklosti, regionální geografii a politickou strukturu oblasti (sub-regionu); Socio-ekonomický rozvoj a jeho predikce; Přírodní podmínky, hlavní suroviny, půdy a lesy; Mínulá a současná politická situace; Hlavní produkty, místní spotřeba a zahraniční obchod; Nejdůležitější integrační seskupení a jejich role v mezinárodní spolupráci; Zahraniční spolupráce - především spolupráce s EU; Hodnocení spolupráce s Českou republikou; Budoucí možnosti výše uvedené spolupráce (důraz na vědecko-technickou a rozvojovou spolupráci); Prognostika budoucího rozvoje.

Znalosti:The graduates get quite good knowledge of the area of the so called Latin America continent (South and Central Americas) and Caribbean islands. The area is known under the term of Latin America in view of the main languages being Spanish and Portuguese. Their knowledge especially focuses on main regional economies: Brazilian, Chilean, Argentinean and Mexican, historical development and its impact on cultural features and present statute of their economies. They are informed on the regional geography, political structure of the area (Spanish and Portuguese speaking sub-regions). Their main focus is on Brazil as the biggest Latin-American country and regional power. Knowledge on Central America region is also highly important as rapidly developing part of the Latin America. It is not possible to omit Caribbean sub-region which is mixed - Spanish, English and French speaking area. Thanks to its key geographic situation this region has become very important. A specific position of Cuba is in focus of the subject delivery.Dovednosti:The graduates are able to apply their knowledge in practical applications - as an independent experts having deeper knowledge on Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. They are, in fact, in a certain extent geographically specialized. They usually do speak Spanish and sometimes Portuguese and are able to be successful in trade and entrepreneurship in the above regions. They can work: - as a member of task teams in some of the Latino-American country; - as manager and implementer of business plans and/or operation of their own businesses in the above regions; - at application of theoretical knowledge into practice which concerns the LA area; - at addressing non-standard challenges when working in projects implemented in either East-Latin America or Caribbean countries. Kompetence - komunikace:They can lead small task teams in the field of the LA area, or effectively operate under leadership or in partnership with qualified professionals. They can formulate and present their own views on efficiency and security of business in LA and Caribbean area.Kompetence - úsudek:They are able to review and develop performance of themselves and others, to supervise the routine work of others, take some responsibility for the evaluation and improvement of work activities concerning the target areas (Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries). They can manage projects including planning, implementation and feedback in the same area as described before.
