The aim of the course is to describe how to design ecological experiment from statistical basis, collect the data carefully and with the proper regard to the needs of the test, use the appropriate test for their analysis and interpret the results. Examples of ecological experiments are used throughout to illustrate the procedures and examine problems.
Získané způsobilosti
Znalosti:Graduates have excellent theoretical knowledge in application of exact methods based on statistical analysis to solution of complex problems of sometimes highly specialised nature and often connected to other fields of knowledge. They are specialists in both quantitative and qualitative research. They have systematic understanding of studied problems and are fully qualified for further research and development in their field. The graduate s knowledge serves as a basis for seminal thoughts allowing his/her partaking in research. He/she is competent for taking up assignments in executive positions. Graduates have critical awareness of the problems relating to their area of studies and interactions with other areas. They understand theories, concepts and methods which correspond to the application of basic and advanced statistical methods. They have deep scientific knowledge of statistics, data interpretation and visualisation, experimental design and ecological modelling. They are fully acquainted with scientific methodology and methods, as well as usage of the proper metrics. Their specialised knowledge is enhanced by relevant knowledge in humanities.Dovednosti:Graduates can apply their highly specialised and advanced knowledge and specialised skills and methods, including synthesis and evaluation, required for solving core problems in research and innovation and in expanding and amending current findings or specialised applications. They have proven their capacity of self-reliance in the areas of scientific, research or development activities, by producing a peer reviewed scientific publication, thus contributing to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge. They are able to apply their highly specialised skills for solving problems in the areas of research or top management and specialised jobs, which demand statistical analysis of data. They can create new knowledge and methods and integrate findings from other areas in practical applications. They can reliably apply their scientific knowledge in all areas of social interaction.Kompetence - komunikace:They communicate well with their colleagues and the larger international scientific community about professional, ethical as well as social matters within the scope of their specialisation. They are competent to administer and supervise work which involves substantial risks, administer complex professional activities or projects. They are self reliant in leading up international teams of scientists or professionals. They can interlink knowledge areas, master complications and even formulate conclusions on the basis analysis results related to the application of this knowledge and its conclusions. They can lecture and communicate their knowledge to the scientific community by means of scientific and professional publications, if need be to adapt and popularise their knowledge to the lay public.Kompetence - úsudek:Graduates deliberate systematically, are capable of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas. They create systems models of real processes, assess their behaviour, formulate scientific hypothesis and evaluate them scientifically. They dispose of authority, innovative spirit, self-reliance, academic and professional integrity and sustained determination to bring up new ideas and develop new methods of excellence in work and studies, including research. They can properly choose their collaborators, create and organise scientific and professional teams and abide by the rules of ethics and of scientific work. They are able to find new special solutions of complex problems. They assume responsibility for the development and implementation of new scientific findings in respect to sustainable development and social conciliation.
