The course integrates computer sciences with advances in water industry. The two wide-scoped theoretical disciplines culminated into hydroinformatics as a platform for creation of excellent tools for decision making in hydraulics, hydrology and water resources management. Hydroinformatics aims at comprehension of what happen in hydrological and technological processes within natural basins and in man-controlled water resources systems. It uses tools of mathematical modelling supported by computer technology.

Získané způsobilosti

Znalosti:Gaining the basic knowledge about the formulation, development and use of mathematical models in water management and environmental protection characterizes the outcomes of the subject; this is what hydro informatics provides for. Skill acquired forms comprehensive and integrated approach in field of water science, of numerical methods, of informatics and communication technologies. Within hydroinformatics, principle awareness across a broad spectrum of theoretical disciplines is not solely related to sphere of water sciences. In this sense, therefore, the knowledge gained focuses chiefly to the application field. Requirements of national economy towards implementation of hydroinformatic systems are unequivocal: along with increasing complexity of environmental problems in water management, the growing necessity for a multi-disciplinary analysis supported by computer technology both in the field of hardware and software. This is a central aim of the subject.Dovednosti:In general, an interdisciplinary nature of hydroinformatics is a stimulating factor for logical composition of the projects it enables independence of judgment and thus the student initiative. The aim and purpose of hydroinformatics is mainly to enable deeper comprehension between the SW users and developers. Monitoring of recent developments in relevant theories, modeling and instrumentation is an essential prerequisite to for improvement of experience and expertise. The development of every hydroinformatic system should follow the links between all involved parties into the project. Thus the student often becomes the co-author and obtains skills not only in developing simple software, but especially in active use of complex computer systems, often in association with the other support software. Tools for spatial modeling, database management systems or water management system are worth to mention, as well as the use of advanced methods of data processing and visualization techniques in the input/output data processing of mathematical models.Kompetence - komunikace:The analysis of the information related to the aquatic environment usually requires interdisciplinary collaboration of the team. The experts from various professions, including IT's have to be involved into the project to facilitate subsequent computerizing. The student is able to cope with experts and to act as a moderator in the debate between water resources managers and the IT's.Kompetence - úsudek:Hydroinformatics as scientific discipline (or, better "technology") should be seen in context of a broad exchange of information between real world and other parties involved into the environmental protection, the economy and into the field of State administration. Self treatment in critical evaluation of the input data.
