The objective of this course is to provide a general introduction to groundwater hydrology and contaminant transport in the subsurface. Because numerical modeling is an important tool for describing the movement of water and chemicals in the subsurface, a numerical model widely used by engineers will be introduced in the course -GMS

Znalosti:Graduates gain knowledge of flow in porous zone - hydrostatics and hydrodynamics. They understand the derivation of basic equations based on fundamental physical laws and they are able to apply them to specific solutions of groundwater flow and contamination transport problems.Dovednosti:Graduates are able to use obtained knowledge for solving groundwater issues and following courses of the study e.g. special hydrogeology and hydropedology, transport of contaminants through porous media.Kompetence - komunikace:Graduates are able to communicate within engineering and research groups. They are able to formulate, explain and defend particular solution. They can explain and defend their opinions on such a solution. Using one universal language graduates are capable of communication and understanding the literature in the field.Kompetence - úsudek:Students are able to describe and solve specified hydraulic problems and they can assess the feasibility and accuracy of the solution. Graduates can manage with practical hydraulic issues including more complicated one's and they are able to present and defend opinions within the field discussion.
