Znalosti:Graduates have theoretical knowledge in the area of macroeconomics and microeconomics which they apply to understand the problems of world demand and supply of agricultural commodities. The students gain knowledge in the main theories of economic development that explain the role of agriculture in the economy and in poverty alleviation. They are able to relate the demographic and economic characteristics of a country to its demand for food and make a qualified prediction of food demand in the future. The graduates are capable of analysing the level of malnutrition using appropriate indicators. They understand the conditions for agricultural production in developing countries and know to distinguish different farming systems in the world. Finally, the students are able to explain the economic effects of various agrarian policy measures and know the basic differences between agrarian policies in OECD and developing countries. *Skils During the course, the students develop a broad set of academic Dovednosti:s such as the ability to collect and analyze data using appropriate indicators from different world-wide databases; the ability to search for and understand the content of various scientific papers and the ability to write a research paper using the academic standards. Competencies - judgement The graduates engage in discussions in which they are required to formulate their arguments and to critically evaluate the problem. They train their economic reasoning and they think in a broader perspective. *Competencies - communication The students are encouraged to work in teams and they develop the ability to lead multi-member, complex and international working groups.
