Cíl

The objective of the course unit is to educate the experts for rural development. They should be skilled to apply theoretical knowledge provided by social sciences (mostly economics and sociology) in concrete strategies and projects of rural development in order to make this development sustainable (economically profitable, environmentally friendly and socially acceptable).

Znalosti:The students master the knowledge of various theoretical backgrounds of rural development (especially those originating in economics, sociology and social geography). Their knowledge is of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature and links the knowledge of contemporary dominating theories in the economics, sociology and social geography with the practice of rural development. Knowing the differences between endogenous and exogenous models of development the students know which one suits to the certain contexts of the development which are clearly delineated by the students based on their knowledge of the appropriate theories. The students use their knowledge to implement the research which is necessary element of the passing the course unit in relation to the elaboration of the development project. The students are expected to govern innovative and non-trivial knowledge and to be sensitive to social aspects of the live which might be projected into practical skills. Their knowledge is both of practical nature (the skills and knowledge how to elaborated development projects) and of theoretical nature (to implement the research linked to the rural development).Dovednosti:The students are skilled to formulate non-trivial ways of solving the problems. It means they are able to address various problems in the countryside in the sensitive way (backed through the concept of the sustainability) and therefore implemented solutions have their value added (innovative and sustainable solutions). Based on the literature they studied and using the data available they are able to argue for their suggestions dealing with various situations emerging in the countryside which were not addressed in the lectures and consultations. They master to apply the principles of the sustainability in the rural development - i.e. they know how to link economic profitability with social sensibility and acceptability and with environmental friendliness.Kompetence - komunikace:The students speak fluently in English and they communicate in English without any problem. They are skilled to work in the international teams where English is required. They know how to present the findings, projects and their views the public which is not initiated into the rural development in details. They are able to explain various theoretical backgrounds and practical measures linked to them.Kompetence - úsudek:Students know to find out and to argue about the problems. They are able to analyze the context of the problem and to link it with various aspects of the life in the countryside. Their opinions are more complex and socially sensitive; they consider various impacts of development activities. Their opinions are systematic and complex and they are based on the available theories and concepts of the social sciences.
