Within study the following aspects of cryobiology will be considered:1.Basic principles of cryobiology including:-water transport and osmotic properties of cells;- cryoinjury and its prevention- mechanisms of cryoprotectant action.- discrepancies between theory and practice in the cryobiology of gametes.2. Cryopreservation of fish gametes:- factors considered in fish spermatozoa cryopreservation- the common features and differences in cryopreservation methods in fish ? objects of freshwater and marine aquaculture;- the difficulties associated with cryopreservation of fish eggs and embryos.3. Techniques and equipment for fish sperm cryopreservation.4. The role of cryopreservation for specific genetic methods in aquaculture (androgenesis and sex reversion)5. The advantage and restrictions of genetic resource cryobanking.

After this course, students will have basic information in gametes cryopreservation specialized on fish; especially practical use of methodology, materials and basic methods of cryopreservation
