Cíl
The course, which is based on self-study, will deal with words in a selected number of domains. The words considered are not completely synonymous but they are used in reference to the same subject matter in different registers (e.g. technical, colloquial…).There will also be a range of frequency phrases that are useful in particular contexts, as well as idiomatic and metaphorical expressions. Some examples of polysemy will also be considered.The orientation in different registers will help students to use the lexis in various situations in a more natural way and more accurately and make them aware of possible interferences with Czech. As lexis carries along cultural beliefs, the knowledge may be found useful in culture-related research.
