Cíl

The course is designed to introduce the Brontë sisters and their work. We will read the threemost famous novels by the Brontës and a number of essays discussing various aspects of theBrontë phenomenon. In order to better understand both the writers and their work, we will alsoclosely examine the social, political and cultural background from which the writers emergedand in which they worked; also, we will analyse social, political and cultural impact of theBrontës’ works on both their contemporaries and later generations. In addition, we will studyreception and interpretation of the Brontes and their works and how they developed and changedover time.
