The petroleum industry is arguably the most influential and important industry in the world. Along with a brief outline of the development of the industry and its impact on the society, this course offers an introduction to oil and gas supply chains. It provides a comprehensive understanding of all three sectors of the industry: upstream (exploration and production), midstream (land and sea transportation), and downstream (refining and processing, distribution and marketing of the products). The course also describes and analyses oil and gas markets focusing on structure, pricing mechanism and key actors of the global oil market and the most important regional gas markets.
