Cíl

Předmět si klade za cíl seznámit studenty s nejvýznamnějšími otázkami strategických studií, kterým v této oblasti byla věnována pozornost v období studené války i těm, jejichž důležitost se s rostoucí intenzitou začala projevovat zvláště od posledního desetiletí dvacátého století do současnosti. Na konci kurzu by studenti měli rozumět hlavním otázkám diskutovaným v rámci bezpečnostních studií. Zejména by měli být schopni charakterizovat vývoj, roli a cíle bezpečnostních studií, analyzovat odstrašování v rámci jeho teorií, zhodnotit roli zbraní hromadného ničení, vysvětlit procesy závodů ve zbrojení a kontroly zbrojení a další.
