Cíl
The aim of this course is to introduce students into the study of pragmatics, i.e. a linguistic discipline which views the language from the point of view of its user. In this respect the course will be contrasted with students´ previous study of linguistics in B.A. and Master studies.At the end of the course the students should be able to:- characterise pragmatics as a linguistic subject;- explain the pragmatic attitude to a language;- explain the Cooperative principles (Grice´s Maxims/ Konverstationsmaximen); - characterise the speech acts (Searl); - distinguish the propositional from the presuppositional meaning; - find pragmatic markers in a text
