Student zpracovává materiály, které se vztahují k tématu imigrace do Spojených států. Pozná základní koncepty americtví, přičemž dokáže rozlišit mezi asimilací, integrací, populárním symbolem "tavicího kotle" a kulturním pluralismem. Seznámí se s hlavními příčinami přistěhovalectví a jeho historií ve Spojených státech. Lépe porozumí multikulturnímu charakteru americké společnosti.
