Sylabus
a) Relevant philosophical reading: The student is required to choose at least twelve items from the List of Literature (See the file). Proper use of literature in answering the philosophical problems (quaestiones disputatae) is evaluated. While answering the problem, the student should not refer to literature not included in the list. The list of literature thus defines the specific intellectual field for the disputation. The student’s knowledge and understanding of literature from the list is evaluated. b) Disputation on a philosophical problem (quaestiona disputata, see the file): The main sense of this crucial part of the exam is presentation of student’s ability to think philosophically about a drawn problem and to use adequately the concepts and attitudes of books/authors from the list. The student draws one of the twenty two philosophical problems, which are known in advance, and is given time to prepare his answers. The student is required to formulate different approaches, to develop them, to compare them and to present them in a broader perspective. A discussion with examiners is an important part of the exam.
