Geopolitics and Geostrategy II Course description:Main aim of this course is to extend and deepen knowledge of basic historical approaches (especially Russian and French geopolitical traditions) and through geopolitical "optics" contextualized development of International Relations throughout the XX. century.Major attention will be paid to the formation of bipolar system, its stabilization and consequences of its unexpected and unprecedented dissolution. Evaluation:Oral exam. Student will be asked to comment and evaluate one text from compulsory reading list (see the list of literature below) which he/she will choose. Than discussion will be extended to other fields of geopolitics, which are related to the issue. List of Lectures:1.      Europe and the World between WWI and WWII. Similarities and differences with contemporary World.2.      Status quo powers and their behavior from  geopolitical point of view (UK, France, USA).3.      Disturbers of status quo powers and their behavior from geopolitical point of view (Italy, Japan, Germany).4.      WWII in geopolitical perspective, land dimension.5.      WWII in geopolitical perspective, sea dimension.6.      Geopolitics of Air (G. Douhet and A. de Seversky).7.      Territorial reconstruction of Europe and Asia after WWII: dreams and reality.8.      Initial phase of bipolarity. George Kennan and Nicholas Spykman.9.      Stabilization of bipolarity in global context. Non-aligned movement, Open Skies Treaty. First man in the space ant its consequences.10.  Geopolitics of space. E. Dolman and Astropolitics.11.  Dissolution of USSR. The biggest catastrophe of XX.
