Cíl

The aim of the workshop is to get participants acquainted with essential international team work, comparative methods and to enhance their knowledge and skills in areas of team work, discussion and presentation of their own opinion in academic discussion, research design, field research, critical thinking and work with resources, time and subject planning, linking theoretical findings and conceptualizations with current praxis in different empirical fields.

Sylabus

Introductory session (February 27, 9.30-11.50, Jinonice J3019) Presentation of the workshop; discussion of selected issues; discussion of possible projects, selection of participants.The workshop deals with issues related to society, politics and policy-making in the Czech Republic and Germany. For this year we selected two main issues "Politics and the Internet" (A - Raufer) and "Policy work and policy capacities of actors in policy-making process" (B - Novotny), but other relevant issues could be involved after consultations with teachers.List of possible issues:A1. Internet politics and democracyA2. The Internet in campaigns and electionsA3. The Internet presentations of political parties in the Czech Republic and GermanyA4. Internet and surveillanceA5. "We are Anonymous" - Internet groups as democratic movements in a civic society?B1. Policy work in higher education policy-makingB2. Policy capacity and policy advisory systems of political partiesB3. Policy work of political parties in higher education policy in the Czech Republic and GermanyB4. Expert capacities and policy advisory systems in tertiary education policy in the Czech Republic and GermanyB5. Policy capacities of universities in the Czech Republic and GermanyOther topics could be involved after consultations with the teachers. They are open to all suggestions and innovations. Interim period 1 - communication and preparatory worktill March 11, 2015 - deadline for 2 short summaries of issues articles (1 policy work and 1 Internet see SIS) + 2 topic proposals of the seminar paperPraha week (March 16-20, 2015)Session 1 (Monday, 3 hours) - the first meeting of the teams: introduction to the idea of the workshop, discussion of the project in teams, planning of the work (field research etc.) Session 2 (Wednesday, 3 hours) -the second meeting of the teams: discussion of the project, the course of the work and preparation of presentationSession 3 (Thursday, 2 hours) - the third meeting of the teams: presentation of the project proposal, planning of further workInterim period 2 - communication and work in teams (continuing in field research or in other associated activities)till April 24, 2015 - deadline for a short report on team seminar work progress + theoretical frame of the paper (3-5 pages)till May 13, 2015 - deadline for a draft of team seminar work presentation based on the research design (5 pages) = powerpoint presentation + research design (cca 2.000 words + list of the literature)Konstanz week (May 18-24, 2014)Session 4 (Monday, 2 hours) -meeting of the teams in class: discussion of seminar paper draftsSession 5 (Wednesday, 2 hours) - meeting of the teams: preparation of the presentationSession 6 (Friday, 4 hours) - final meeting of the teams and presentation of seminar papers, discussionsAugust 31, 2015 - deadline for the team seminar papersPartial programme changes reserved.
