Nursing II - syllabusAnnotation:The course is designed as practical. An emphasis is put on learning procedures and interventions of nursing care in the laboratory and in clinical practice with its focus on managing complete nursing procedures. Students in practical exercise get basic manual skills and confidence of safe and quality nursing practice and implementation of interventions with patients.The content of practical exercises: Intravenous therapy: - i.v. injections, i.v. catheters, care about i.v. catheters, regulation of rate i.v. infusion, total parentheral nutrition, administering of transfusion, administering od chemotherapy Oxygen therapy: administering of oxygen, maintaining free airway, care about airway, artificial ventilation, caring for chest drain. Insertion of nasogastric tube, flushing and removing nasogastric tube. Enteral nutrition: tube insertion for feeding, administration of drugs through the tube; Change in emptying of the colon: the care of stoma, colostomy irrigation; Change in urinary excretion: male and female catheterization, urinary stoma, suprapubic catheter; Wound care: the exchange of dry sterile dressing, moist cover replacement, replacement of the transparent dressing; Preparing the patient for surgery: preoperative assessment, preoperative education, physical preparation. Postoperative care: immediate care in the recovery room; measures during the convalescent phase, surgical wound care, monitoring and measurement of drainage device, removal of stitches and clamps; Practical exercises in clinical use (at least 8 hours)The conditions for passing clinical nursing practice:The condition to be able to fulfil clinical practice is to accomplish all required exercises and interventions in the lab and medical certificates to carry out practical training in a health care facility and immunization against transmissible diseases according to valid law.The conditions for finishing of the courseThe condition for completion of a course is participation (100%) in seminars and practical exercises (including clinical practice) and successful completion of final test. The subject is finished only by credit. The exam is verbal.
