ADVANCES IN MOLECULAR GENETICS optional course for 4th and 5th year medical students by: Prof. Ing. Zdeněk Sedláček, DrSc. where: Department of Biology and Medical Genetics when: 1-2 weeks (five afternoons) in March-April (will be specified with the attendees) prerequisites: knowledge of basic molecular genetics (Medical Biology 2nd year) contact: zdenek.sedlacek@lfmotol.cuni.cz, 257296153 topics: what is new in human molecular genetics since your study of Medical Biology? - is our understanding of our genome and of mechanisms of gene expression better? - what are the new types of variability in our genome? - have the views of the role of RNA and of selfish DNA changed? - are there any new inferences from the comparison of genomes of man and other organisms? new approaches and technologies in human genome analysis new resources for genomics and human genetics on the Internet examples of interesting research projects in the department discussions are flexibly modified according to special interests of the participants especially suitable for students considering postgraduate study in biomedicine
