North Germanic grammar and vocabulary in the East Midlands. The relation of ME to the phrasal verbs and word order of PDE.4. English vocabulary in historical perspective. The Norse (1150-1250), French (1250-1400), and Latin (1400-1600) vocabulary floods. The chronology and sociology of borrowing; change of meaning.5.
