Obsah

Kurz navazuje na výuku syntaxe v bakalářském studiu. Zaměřuje se na komplexní analýzu věty a souvětí. Seznamuje studenty s typy souvětí, typy vět v souvětí a jejich konfigurace, způsoby spojování vět, prostředky jazykové ekonomie (kondenzace, elipsa, nominalizace), informační strukturu vět a možnosti její změny. Podrobněji je pozornost věnována následujícím tematům:(1) anglický slovosled a aktuálního členění věty.(2) polovětné vazby v angličtině (infinitiv, gerund, participia) a jejich funkčním protějškům v češtině (včetně klasifikace, frekvence výskytu, distribuce apod.)(3) metodika komplexního větného rozboru.Všechna témata jsou ilustrována autentickými jazykovými daty. Důsledně je uplatněna kontrastivní metoda.

Získané způsobilosti

Od studentů se očekává prohloubení a zdokonalení znalostí o tvorbě anglického souvětí, o typech a konfiguracích vět ve větných celcích, o procesech jazykové ekonomie v souvětí a jejich vlivu na konečnou podobu souvětí. Konfrontace s češtinou zvýší kompetence studentů při kontrontaci typologicky odlišných jazyků.

Požadavky

Návštěva kurzů, příprava na semináře, vypracování zadaných úkolů. Součástí požadavků na zápočet je také 1-2 vlastní projekty (ústní nebo písemný) a závěrečný písemný test. Absolutorium kurzu je doporučeno také jako jedno z možných ke zkoušce LIA1 anebo LIA2 (Lingvistická analýza 1/2). Pro tuto zkoušku je relevantní náslující seznam témat:1. a) Slovosled věty jednoduché (linearita konstituentů/funkcí/pragmatických funkcí) b) Funkční větná perspektiva a její realizace v angličtině (a češtině)2. Nefinitní struktury v angličtině a) Taxonomie infinitivů, jejich vlastnosti a funkce b) Proces nominalizace - ing forma, jejich taxonomie (vlastnosti a funkce)3. Komplexní větný rozbor (standardní analýza anglické věty z hlediska slovních druhů, větných členů a charakteristiky souvětí.)Konkrétní literatura je určena v průběhu semestru. Jako standardní jsou normativní gramatiky (Quirk et al, Huddleston et al) a odborné studie podle doporučení a vlastního výběru.================================================================================================LIA1/2The course is one of the possible choices for the exam LIA1 and LIA2. For the exam the main topics taken from SNT2 are1. Word order, Functional sentence perspective2. Infinitives and Nominalisations in EnglishFor the LIA1/2 test, however, standard sentence analysis is assumed as well: parts of speech, sentence members, classification of the complex/compound sentences. Thus for the LIA1/2 exam and for the final state exams (SAJM1/2) the following topics were chosen. Each of those topics will be the source of several more specific (and detailed) questions - each topic aprox. 1-5 questions. Those specific questions will not be announced in advance.===========================================================================================LIA1/2 and SAJM1/2 topics1. Basic unites on the distinct levels of the langauge system? Concentrate on morpho-syntax - morphemes, categorie-words (compounds). A uniform phrasal projection of lexical categories and its category specific realisation of NP, AP, VP. 2. Taxonomy and characteristics of English parts of speech and their projections (N-NP, Adj/Adv-AP, V-VP, P-PP). Consider the categorial properties, phrasal projection and clausal function.3. Taxonomy and examples of English syntagmatic relations: the nature of the sentence members. Discuss in detail those which are related to N and to V. Explain the specificity of subject/object complements 4. Negation. Ckassification od negation based on the scope. Comparing Czech and English negation - NEG concord, NEG transportation, NPI, partially negative adverbs.5. English sentence patterns according to their form and function. Discuss and illustrate the clausal constituent order in the field preceding the Verb (classification based on modality) and after the V (clasification based on subcategorization). 6. Complex sentence analysis : the nature and kinds of subordinate clauses. More about nominal content clauses (consider expletives), adverbial, conditional and relative clauses.7. Sentence dynamism and its realization in English (compared with your native tongue). Define the functions of constituent order and contrast Czech with English. Consider also theory of markedness.8. Specifics of English infinitive, their classification, characteristics and functions Discuss the distinction between Rising and Subject Control and between ECM and Object Control infinitives.9. Specifics of English -ing forms, their classification, characteristics and functions. Compare a typical NP/DP (including the kinds of derived nominals) with VP/TP. Demonstrate the specificity of English Gerunds.
