Obsah

In light of the uncertainty of the global economic outlook, there are growing concerns about job search and job security. Through a series of creative and interactive workshops, this course helps students turn their personal strengths into career success even in a difficult economic environment. It offers specific guided reflective and imaginary processes of self-exploration for clarifying individual vocation in life.A vocation is far more than a job or a profession. It is the innermost core, a profound purpose, a life project. This is why this series of workshops is entitled ?deep vocation? and not just ?job search skills?. Finding one?s vocation is much more profound and strategic than seeking to fit in with the market. It is a continuous process of alignment and calibration on several levels. It is about aligning one?s life with one?s purpose (micro alignment); with the people around us (meso alignment); with the ongoing changes in the world (macro alignment); with the earth as a living organism (mundo alignment) and with the entire universe (cosmo alignment). The process of finding one?s vocation could be thought of as a job generating machine. Knowing one?s vocation becomes a source of creativity and enthusiasm that drives the job search or job creation. If people know what talents they have and what they really want to do, they have the necessary motivation and energy to implement their dreams. The workshops are experiential, explorative and student-focused, tailored to the specific interests and needs of the participants. The teacher plays the role of a mentor and facilitator, while students act as adult learners and co-designers of their learning pathways. They define their own questions; elaborate their personal criteria for self-actualization; (re)configure their routes to success; and develop a plan based on a personal vision and mission statement. Students also provide peer-mentoring and peer-feedback, and they explore the option to collaborate with others who share a similar vision. Many great enterprises and social endeavours were born at the university, when likeminded people joined forces in collaborative endeavours. The course includes some artistic components, requiring the students to bring along:- One teddy bear (or other soft toy, ball, small pillow?)- Your favourite artistic set (e.g., pastel, wax, water colour ? preferably no chemical colours)- A small bag with colourful nature from the field ? flowers, grass, weeds?

The workshops are beneficial for all students ? those not decided about their career and life path, as well as those already pursuing a plan. During the workshops, the former group will creatively develop new ideas, whereas the latter will test and improve their existing plans. Improvements are always possible. Constructive Developmental Theory shows the possibility to evolve through increasingly complex stages of consciousness that significantly shape how we see the world. Taking this into account, even students with clear plans will be able to increase the sophistication of their strategy.

Požadavky

The course has two assessment criteria: (1) an active approach to learning, i.e. contributing to the class in various ways (discussion, sharing of reflections/observations, small group work, questions, etc.); and (2) an oral contribution (e.g. a presentation). Each criterion counts half of the course grade. These workshops are not graded, which reflects an educational philosophy that goes beyond information dissemination. What matters in terms of learning is not only the performance in the classroom or in exams, which often cover only a relatively narrow set of skills. What matters is the overall progress in learning and development, and the contributions students make to the academic and social environment. Voluntary and non-traditional forms of evaluation such as 360 degree feedback may be used in this course. The course is not about evaluation, but about creativity stimulation ? about preparing students for the next big step in their lives. The most important evaluation in this course is therefore self-reflection ? the alignment between the self and its fundamental purpose or mission.
