Obsah
The course introduces students to the academic approach of James Lovelock, his colleagues and his opponents regarding "Gaia theory". It contrasts traditional systems of knowledge with a holistic perspective of the organism of the Earth. Complementing theoretical and experiential components, students will watch and discuss the documentaries "Animate the Earth" and "The 11th Hour".
Získané způsobilosti
Students will gain a solid understanding of Gaia theory as presented by its proponents and critics. This understanding will range from technical concepts such as geophysiology all the way to those dimensions that make the course content personally real. Thus the course helps students gain a more informed, inspired and courageous view of their destiny as leaders of a new era and as stewards of the Earth.

Students are assessed according two criteria: 1/ the quality of their participation during the whole course, 2/ the quality of their oral contribution at the end of the course.
