AMERICAN LITERATURE – EDGAR ALLAN POE
Edgar Allan Poe was born in 1809 in Boston. Poe was an American writer. He liked to write about dark themes. His life was almost as dark as his writing.
When he was one year old his father left the family and a year later his mother died of tuberculosis. He was sent to live in foster family. He got in the university. At the age of 17 he started to drink an alcohol and gambling. He was kicked out and was send to another university. One year later he was kicked out again.
He wanted to be a full time writer. In the past only rich people wrote novels and poems, but Poe decided to be the one of the first professional writers in America.
Poe married young women, she was 13 years old and she was his cousin. Some years later his wife was diagnosed tuberculosis and Poe started began drinking again.
One day Poe was found lying in the street. He was unable to walk or tell anyone what had happened. He was taken to the hospital where he died four days later. His death is very mysterious.
