HEALTH AND ILLNESSES

Health is a very important and fragile thing. When we are not healthy and we are struggling with some illness, it can become a huge problem and we are often not able to do our everyday activities. Sometimes we don't realize how important health is until we lose it. That's why we should pay more attention to our health and take good care of ourselves, because it affects how we work, how we feel and also how long we live.

Everyone should think what is healthy for them and what can improve their health. It's good to eat healthier and more regularly. You do not have to play a sport professionally or go running every day, but simple activities like walking, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or just not sitting at home all day can help a lot. It is also nice to have a hobby that includes movement, such as skiing, cycling, running or going on trips. It's also important to drink enough water and eat a balanced diet.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. When we struggle mentally or feel stressed for a long time, it can have visible effects on our body. Some people lose or gain their weight or just feel tired and exhausted. It's also important to know what can make us to feel better mentally. If someone cannot help themselves, it's good to visit a psychologist who can help them.

When we compare the health system in our country with the system in the USA, I think our system works very well. It is based on solidarity, which means that everyone pays health insurance and healthcare is available for everyone. Health insurance is mandatory here, so people usually do not have to worry about how much medical treatment will cost.

In the USA, health insurance is not mandatory. If people do not have insurance, they often have to pay a very large amount of money for medical care. Even with insurance, healthcare can be very expensive. Because of this, many people in the USA avoid visiting a doctor even when they feel unwell.

Regular medical check-ups are also important. They help prevent serious illnesses and give us certainty that we are healthy. Vaccination is often part of prevention as well. It helps protect people from serious diseases and reduces the risk of getting ill.

Among the most common and usually not very serious illnesses are the flu, a cold, cough or sore throat. People can also have fever. Sometimes it is enough to take medicine, drink tea, rest, and wait for the body to fight the illness. As the saying goes: "An untreated cold lasts a week, and a treated cold lasts seven days."

When someone has more serious illness or injury, such as a broken bone, appendicitis, or cancer, it is necessary to visit a doctor or go to the hospital.

First aid is also very important. If we see someone who is sick or injured, it's good to know at least basic steps to help. If we find someone unconscious, we should first check if they are breathing and if

their heart is beating. If we are not sure what to do, we should call the ambulance or ask someone for help. Even when calling emergency services, the operators can tell us exactly what to do.
