Nowadays, this day is still officialy named Labor day but most people consider it as a day of love. People of all ages travel to Petřín where is the statue of Karel Hynek Mácha, the author of Máj. And there is the tradition that every girl and woman should be kissed under the cherry-tree in bloom so she wouldn’t get dry.
We also can compare this day to the American tradition on the Day of St. Valentine. In the USA people express their feelings through the love cards which they send to people they like or love. Although this day is originally American it is celebrated also in our country in few last years. But I think that the 1st May is still more popular and I hope it also will in the future.
