The old man Santiago was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck. On his hand he has decreased scars from handling heavy fish on the cords. But none of these scars were fresh. He was poor and unassuming, but on the other hand still hopeful and he didn’t give up and he tried to reach his catch. He was also considerate towards the boy Manolin, really friendly and grateful for his help.
