4 Travelling and holidays

For that reason, the first thing we should do when we arrive at the airport in look for a departure board (there are always boards with departures and arrivals) there we can see our flight number, then we should head to the check-in counter to check-in for our flight, for that we need to show the person behind the counter our passport.

If we have a luggage, we have to put it on the scale to see if it’s not too heavy, because if it is, unfortunately we have to put some things out of the luggage and pack them in our carry-on bag for example. Then we should go to the airport security check point.

There we must take off our jewellery (necklaces, earrings, watches), our belt and all other metal things and we have to put those things with our mobile phone, laptop and other things like that in a plastic container. If we have a bottle of water, we have to drink it or throw it away. We have to put our carry-on bag on the conveyor belt of the airport scanner too. We can’t have any sharp things. In many airports they want us to take our shoes off too, so we can go through the detention frame.

After the security check we can head to our gate in the departure hall. There are many shops with food and drinks, so we can buy whatever we want. In the gate there are lots of seats, where we can sit and wait for our flight.

Before boarding, we have to show our boarding pass to the airport employee and then we will be directed into the corridor, which will take us directly to the plane or to the bus on the runway, it will take us in front of our plane. Then we just have to find our seat and enjoy our flight.

The first thing the plane crew will do is that they will tell us some important information about our safety and what we have to do if the plane would have some issues. On the plane we can order food or drink, we can ask the flight attendant if they could give us some newspapers and magazines, but many people just sleep or watch a movie.

After we land, we should make sure to take all of our personal belongings with us and head for the exit. We will then be directed to the terminal building (again we will be taken there by bus, or we will just walk there).

Once we are inside the terminal, we should follow the signs to the luggage carousels where we can collect any checked-in luggage we may have.

After we get out bags, we can walk through the exit into the main terminal, where is a passport control. There we show them our passport again and if we have something to declare, we declare it there. Then we are all set and ready to go to our accommodation.

Types of accommodation, catering

We have many types of accommodation, we could take lodging in a hotel (we could be in from like one star hotel to five stars hotel), we could stay in hostel (usually you are there with other people you don’t know, you are all in one room with several bunks, where you sleep and all of you share a bathroom) or we could stay in Airbnb accommodation (I think it’s been more popular these days, especially with young people).
