Prague lies in the middle of Bohemia on the river Vltava. It has been the capital city since 1918. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Prague has been an important centre where the history of not only the Czech lands but of the whole Europe was made. Its unique architecture Prague historical centre was in 1992 put on the UNESCO list.

„Město bylo založeno Slovany a stalo se sídlem mnoha českých králů. Král Karel IV. byl největším králem. Praha byla tehdy největším městem na kontinentu. Praha je někdy nazývána "Zlatá Praha" nebo "Matka měst".“

The city was founded by the Slavs (slovany) and became a seat of many Czech kings. King Charles IV was the greatest king. Prague was the biggest city on the continent at that time.

Prague is sometimes called „Golden Prague“ or „The Mother of Cities“.

„Staroměstské náměstí. Na náměstí je spousta starých domů postavených v různých stylech. Stará radnice s orlojem mistra Hanuše je nejznámější.“

The Old Town square. On the square are a lot of old houses built in different styles. The Old Town Hall with an astronomical clock by Master Hanuš has been the most famous one.

„Karlův most je nejslavnější z patnácti pražských mostů. Byl postaven Karlem IV v gotickém stylu v roce 1357. Most je dlouhý 515m a široký 10m. Podle legendy zůstal most tak dlouho, protože do něj byly přidány vejce.“

Charles Bridge is the most famous of the fifteen Prague bridges. It was built by Charles IV in gothic style in 1357. The bridge is 515m long and 10m wide. According to a legend the bridge has remained in order for so long because eggs were added into it.

„Pražský hrad je jedním z největších hradů na světě. V minulých stoletích byla sídlem českých knížat a králů a od roku 1918 je sídlem prezidenta. Katedrála svatého Víta byla navržena slavnými architekty. Na místě sídlí korunovační šperky českých králů.“

Prague Castle is one of the biggest castles in the world. In the past centuries, it was the seat of Czech princes and kings, and since 1918 it has been the seat of the president. St Vitus Cathedral was designed by the famous architects. The place houses the crowning jewels of Czech kings.

„Václavské náměstí je dnes srdcem města. Stalo se důležitým nákupním a kulturním centrem. Existuje mnoho obchodů, obchodů, hotelů, restaurací, barů, kaváren, kin a divadel. Horní náměstí je místo, kde se nachází Národní muzeum. Na vrcholu náměstí stojí památník sv. Václava.“

Wenceslas Square is the heart of the city nowadays. It has become an important shopping and cultural centre. There are lot of stores, shops, hotels, restaurants, bars, cafés as well as cinemas and theatres. The top of the square is where the National Museum is located. At the top of the square there is St Wenceslas Monument.
