There are seven short vowel sounds in English. These are the phonemic symbols for each.

Note: there are no length marks or dots. These are only for long vowels.

Take care to write each symbol 100% correctly. /ɪ/ NOT /i / /ʊ/ NOT /u/ /ɒ/ NOT /o/ / Ə/ NOT /ɘ/
