Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. The anniversary
of his death in the 5th century is celebrated on the 17th of March.
Although it's recognized as a public holiday only in the Republic of
Ireland, Northern Ireland and a few other territories, it's widely
celebrated by Irish people who live outside Ireland. The greatest
processions and celebrations are held in the United States - more
than 36 million Americans claim to be ethnically Irish. On this
day, everything is colored green, for example alcohol drinks
(beer, whisky), clothes, skin or even a water in fountains. It
includes public parades, festivals and parties with the
consumption of green-coloured drinks.

In the Czech Republic, this celebration is called
"burning of the witches". It's held on April 30th
and symbolizes the end of winter by burning
stuffed witches made from cloth on bonfires.
