PRAGUE

Praque is the capital city of the Czech Republic, the seat of the President, Parliament and Government and the political, cultural and economical centre of the country.
Praque flourished and grew during the reign of Charles IV. He established the Prague Archbishopric, founded Charles University and the New Town, and promoted the construction or Charles Bridge and St Vitus Cathedral.

Places
The Prague Castle is the seat of the President. The monumental complex includes three courtyards and over 700 rooms among which the Gothic Vladislav Hall, where the election of the President takes place, is the most renowned.
The most impressive building at the Castle is St Vitus Cathedral. The most admired parts of the Cathedral are St Wenceslas Chapel with the coronation chamber, where the coronation jewels are kept, and the Royal Crypt with sarcophaguses of Czech kings and queens.
On Petřin Hill the Petřín Observation Tower can be found. From there you can have a magnificent view of Prague and its environs.
In Praque is Charles Bridge, a favourite place for walks and tourist attractions. It´s 520 metres long and is decorated with 30 Baroque statue.
The heart of the New Town is Wenceslas Square, 750 metres long, lined with banks, department stores, hotels, boutiques, cafés and cinemas. The upper end of the square is closed by the National Museum Not far from it there is the St. Wenceslas Memorial, the bronze statue of the Czech patron made by J V. Myslbek.
In Praque is The National Theatre and Vyšehrad which was once the seat of Czech princes. There is also the Slavín Cemetery, the burial place of famous personalities of our cultural and political life.

Shopping
There is Karlova Street: a very narrow street, full of souvenir shops and mostly crowded with tourists.
In the town centre is mainly shops with souvenirs for tourists. They sell T-shirts with printed pictures of Prague, cups and jewels.
In big shopping centres: Zličín, Palladium and Letňany is lots of fashion shops, fast food restaurants and sports shops.

Transport
Praque has one of the best public transport system of the Europe – the subway, taxi, trams and buses. In Praque is airport of Vaclav Havel, the biggest airport in the Czech Republic and one of the busiest in central Europe.
