AT TRAVEL AGENCY

1W (woman one): Good afternoon. How can I help you?

M(man): My friend and me are planning a trip to visit Europe. We would like to take a sightseeing tour.

1W: What part of Europe do you want to visit?

M: We have not decided yet. Do you know what tourist trip is the best for this season?

1W: Well, it depends. For a short-term or a long-term?

M: A long-term. About eight days.

1W: Fine. Then I recommend you go to northern Italy for sightseeing.

M: Why right there?

1W: Well. The weather is very pleasant there now. You would find there plenty of interesting sights:
Ancient cities, cathedrals, caves, museums, galleries and much more. There is also beautiful nature. High
green hills, vast parks, forests and clean cold lakes. It is a paradise for a rest.

M: It sounds amazing.

1W: If you want, I can book this trip for you right away.

M: Oh….Not just now. I would like to talk this over with my friend firstly.

1W: Of course. No problem. Just take your time. See you soon.

M: Thank you. Bye.

2W: Good morning. What can I do for you?

M: I was here two days ago and I discussed with your colleague about a trip to northern Italy.

2W: Sure, my colleague told me about you.

M: Did she? Nice to hear it.

W2: Yes, so what decision did you make with your friend?

M: We take that trip.

2W: Well. Here is our norther Italy brochure. Have a look and see if there is a hotel you like.

M: OK. Thank you….. Oh, that hotel in Padova looks great.

2W: Oh, Hotel Pilgrim. It is a good choice. It is directly opposite the St. Anthony's Cathedral. In the morning
you can hear bells from the bell tower. It is magical. Do you want me to make the booking for you right
now?

M: No, thank you. I will do it by myself.

2W: Fine. Never mind. Can I help you with something else?

M: Yes, please. I need some information about airline flights.

2W: No problem. You could fly from Prague to Milano. Then take a train to Padova.

M: It sounds so easy.

2W: It is. Here, I will give you a computer print-out of all the flights. Anything else?

M: No, that is all. Thank you very much. Bye.

BOOKING HOTEL (telephone conversation)

R(receptionist): Good afternoon. This is the Hotel Pilgrim in Padova. How may I help you?

M(man): Hello. I would like to book a room for next Wednesday, please.

R: Certainly. How many people is the booking for?

M: Two people. It is for me and my friend, so we would prefer a twin room.

R: Fine. You will arrive next Wednesday, won’t you?

M: Yes, we will.

R: OK. And for how many nights will you stay?

M: We will be leaving the following Sunday. How much would that be?

R: With our special weekly rate, that would be a total of 350 Euro.

M: OK. Is breakfast included?

R: Oh, yes absolutely. The price includes breakfast and all taxes. There are no hidden charges.

M: Well. Is there WIFI in the hotel?

R: Sure. All our rooms have WIFI free of charge.

M: Excellent. That would be useful.

R: For the choice of the rooms, would you prefer a room with a city view or view at the Sant Anthony’s
Cathedral?
