Unit 4.2 – Materials of the future

  • inductance -> inductive

  • ductility -> ductile (tažný, kujný)

  • reflectivity -> reflective

  • permittivity -> permissive (shovívavý)

  • malleability -> malleable

  • To rectify - to correct are set right something that is wrong (napravit)

  • intended - planned or expected to happen

  • To necessitate - to make something necessary (vynutit si, vyžádat si)

  • Durability - the quality of being able to last for a long time without breaking or getting weaker

  • biocompatible - having the ability to exist together with a living system without being harmful

  • indispensable – essential

  • Rectangle – 2D object with four sides, opposite sides are parallel and equal length

    • Rectangular

  • Square - 2D object with four sides of equal length and four angles of 90°

    • Square

  • Rhombus - 2D object with four sides, opposite sides are parallel

    • Rhombic

  • Triangle - 2D object with 3 sides in 3 vertexes (uhly)

  • Circle - To the object, curved line, every point on the line is in same distance from the centre (radius)

  • Pentagon - 2D object with five sides

  • Trapezium - 2D object with four sites, two of them are parallel

    • Trapezial

  • Pyramid - 3D object with a square base and four triangular sites that form a point at the top

    • Pyramidal

  • Cone - 3D object with circular base and a top that becomes never work until it forms a point at the top

    • Conical

  • Sphere - 3D object shaped like round ball, every point on its surface is in the same distance from the centre. This length is called radius

    • Spherical

  • Triangular prism - 3D object with two triangular basis and 3 rectangular sites between them

    • Prismatic

  • Cylinder - 3D object with two circular bases opposite each other. Between bases is 1 rolled rectangle. It looks like a cube or can.

  • Tetrahedron – 3D object with 4 same triangular sides

    • Tetrahedral

  • Cube – 3D object with 6 square sides

    • Cubic

  • Resistance - the ability not to be touched or affected by something

  • bioresorbable – biodegradable

  • to disintegrate - to break to constituent elements

  • stimulus – a thing/event that causes a reaction (podnět)

  • to evolve - To develop gradually

  • respiratory - related to breathing

  • impact - an effect/ influence/striking of a body against another

  • to anticipate - to expect, to foresee (předvídat)
