Sculpture is an art that focuses on 

creating statues. Statues can have 

various shapes, colours and many 

other attributes. The most common 

commissions for statues have 

always been animals, gods, kings 

and other extraordinary people.

Like other arts, 

sculpture has a 

long history and 

was very popular 

for example in 

ancient Greece 

and ancient Rome.

The most 

interesting 

cave paintings 

that we can 

find on the 

European 

continent are 

in Spain - the 

famous Cave of 

Altamira - and 

France, some 

of them are 

over 30 000 

years old.

discoveries were made in Indonesia, 

where at least 40 000 year-old cave 

paintings were found.

animals and hunting scenes.

Renaissance era and many famous painters
