climates, which can be found on 

many continents including Europe, 

are often comprised of regions with 

many famous mountain ranges like 

the Alpes (in Europe), the Rocky 

Mountains (in North America), the 

Himalayas (in Asia) and the Andes 

(in South America).

Water animals

...are often called fish, but it's not entirely true. Some of 

them, for example whales, belong to a group called 

mammals. This very big and diverse group of fish include 

sharks, tuna, salmon and sardines. There are also very 

special and mysterious water animals including the 

octopus and jellyfish.

High density traffic in big 

cities can largely affect the 

environment. Cities like 

Beijing, Mexico City or New 

York are worth mentioning.

Global warming is a very 

sensitive and delicate topic. 

Some say that it's caused by 

humans, some say it's not. 

Whether it's true or not, global 

warming could cause a wide 

range of problems, including the 

melting of the ice caps and a 

rise of the world's ocean level.

Land animals

...live on the surface, but they have different 

abilities to live in various climates. For example polar 

bears and penguins are adapted to live in regions 

with a polar (extremely cold) climate. Unlike them, 

some animals (for example lions, tigers, giraffes, 

gazelles, elephants and zebras) are used to live in 

very hot and dry environments, especially in Africa.

As we might expect it, a dry climate is 

characterized by higher temperatures and 

very dry weather with a lack of rain, which 

leads to dry soil and quite bad conditions 

for growing plants and crops. Most of 

these regions are covered by desert, so 

the locals are often forced to breed
